Just Melvin, Just Evil . . .

1. Identify the type of family dynamics that exists in Melvin’s family?
(Example, single-parent, etc.)

The type of family dynamics that exists in Melvin’s family is a joined family or blended family – officially known as a stepfamily. Melvin married Faye (who had three daughters from a previous marriage.).

Melvin’s second marriage to Venice (resulting in two kids with him) is a combined parent family.

2. Identify what family dynamics might have led to the sexual exploitation of the child involved?

A possible reason why the child were sexually exploited was probably because they were young and easily intimidated and small and relatively easy prey. They were lured into sexual activity by giving them money or tokens for reward and conditioned psychologically to accept these
gifts for his sexual gratification. Per the testimony he did not care how he got his pleasure even if he had to use force until they gave in and was threaten not to tell.

3. What types of sexual abuse did the victims experience? (Example, physical, nonphysical, etc.).

Sexual molestation, forced to do oral sex, vaginal intrusion.

4. What is your opinion/theoretical understanding of why Melvin sexually abused his daughters?

My opinion or understanding of why Melvin sexually abused his stepdaughters from his first marriage and children from his second marriage was probably because of availability and a problematic disorder.

5. Other than the sexual abuse itself, what life-long consequences did the children (now adults) suffer as a result of the abuse?

The children suffered enormous emotional trauma, lack of self-esteem and extreme levels of psychological disorder. The inability to cope with their life is paramount to watching a living tragedy ongoing.

6. As a healthcare professional, how would you go about treating the victims?

The victims of this savage level of child abuse need counseling, nurturing and considerate love and compassion to help them make a better life for themselves. A possible shelter for abused and devastated children who are adults with extreme prevalent emotional distress evident and inability to cope.

7. As a healthcare, how would you go about treating the Melvin?

Treating Melvin would involve counseling and flashback therapy and documented series of flashback conversation and questions. Therapeutic direction of formulating a new pattern of behavioral changes to follow and exploratory methods of investigative questioning to try to understand why he acted like he did and what may have drove him to act like this.
