DISCUSSION WEEK 3

Ecological Theory

This is probably the most important of the three theories (Ecological Theory, Strain Theory and Subculture Theory). The purpose and intent is to study the environment
of an area and discover the amount of impact of delinquency in that area. One of the most foremost and prominent ecological thoeries is Clifford R. Shaw and Heny D.
McKay's Social Organization Theory. During the time of origination the purpose was to focus on social conditions that lead to delinquency (juvenile crimes). Urban
decay and financial woes/lack was discovered to be the problem and with studies and estimations each zone was able to be categorized as to which had the highest
level of juvenile crime as well as why.
Cultural Heterogeneity is also one of the issues that contributed to juvenile delinquency...due to a lack of social cohesion in these neighborhoods and sometimes the clash of various cultures
throughout...this reflects a higher level of propensity to aid criminal activities.
Mobility also is a factor that causes envy, jealousy, resentment and high levels of criminal behavior. The ability to acquire jobs out of these areas causes a lot of resentment and
hate crimes to come into existence. Further allowance of mobility allows the relocation out of these criminal sections and perpetuate problems from those left behind in these
sections.
Poverty is one of the highest motivators in these areas to commit these delinquent acts...generating rage, anger, hate, resentment, stalking, character defamation, slander,
destruction of a person and their life, property and the starting of causal detrimental interactions that brings about racial disharmony.
Thank you.
