Felicia’s Notes
Fall 2012
Children are at risk for abuse on the internet because there is clear accessibility to differing level of adult material and contact with people who may be a predator or pedophile or a person who likes to engage children in adult conversations and arrange liaison with them. The internet is vast and hard to control interaction and a perfect nest for criminal activity and suggestive maneuvers of liaisons of sexual innuendo and connections with underage children and youth who are precocious.
Characteristics of Abusive Parents
Some of the characteristics of abusive parents are:
Drunkenness, HDAD, ADD and sullenness. Some parents have a lot of resentment buried in them and lack control of actions. Further they exhibit anger at their children, hate and jealousy, verbal abuse and neglect. Their inner sanction is negated by personal bad experience and deviant troubled life and disorder. They are instinctly cruel to their children and show no remorse in their treatment. Reflective actions show sociopath tic tendencies and resentment to nurture and reflect correct modeling. No role modeling is exhibited or relayed and the lack of love is evident in their treatment.
My name is Felicia McCaw and I am of African descent. I was born here in Saginaw, Michigan in the year of 1963 on June 29. I am the 7th child of nine and I am considered the knee baby. I started reading at an early age and used to go to church with my grandmother at Zion Baptist Church and went to Sunday school.
My development stage was not hampered educationally but I was really a shy introverted person and just mostly left on journeys in my books which I read on a constant basis. I guess I had my share of bullying at schools starting from elementary on upward to high school and just kind of ignored it and my goal was to go to a school of high repute and get the best education I could.
Still lost in my shy stage I never talked much but I cared and wished to travel and go overseas to see how other cultures lived and see and experience their way of life.
My parents influenced me the most…I was not spoiled and was taught the work ethic and not be selfish. I modeled myself after my parents who still outworked me and just I just wished to measure up.
My racial or ethnic background had no true impact…I just study here or there and just needed probably a little more of an outgoing nature and a little more maturity.
Emotional abuse is the inner psychological damage done to a child that causes clear inability to function emotionally and internal pain. This internal pain is a reoccurring emotional upheaval that lingers and affects a child into adulthood.
The types of individuals involved in interventions include the CPS worker (1st contact), physician, nurses and if at school – counselors and the judge and attorneys. (Text – class lecture) – CPS – 1ST contact based on referral or complaint – initiate removal, physician – examination of child, professional witness – nurses – co-examiner – 1st contact – professional witness, counselor – notice of bruises, etc. Professional witness – 1st contact then CPS worker, Judge – decision maker.
Attorneys – favor for removal or against removal of child.
