A Tale of Africa in the Land of Nandi

Inspired by A Nandi Tale Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain, written by Verna Aardema.

On the Great Kapiti Plains replete with rain to nourish seas of grass

Dwelled plenty of God’s creatures of several that rested feasted on meals of many

Until a day came when rains became few and scarce that made the land parch thirst and animals migrate to places of many

Plaintive cries of sad hunger and thirst raised high to heavens of high for rain rain to nourish the Plains of Kapiti

Eyes of flooding with pleading tears looked with anguish at the rain cloud of heavy frown and sighed sorrowfully with mourns at possible death

Ki-Pat a curly head youth of skin of black watched with prayers silent and solemn for rain rain rain to save his herd who cried cried and pleaded pleaded with baying rings of loud

A day of usual became one another when a feather of unremarkable fell from the sky and from that Ki-Pat formed an arrow of straight to pray for weather of change to become a friend of a bow of strong and long to appeal to a rain cloud of heavy frown with pure sweet that lifted a smile of acceptance and freed the rain to nourish and feed the parched land and thirst of all for his reward his wife and son of heritage future
