Discussion Week 4 - Felicia McCaw #2

Discussion Week 4 - Crime and Criminal Behavior

Why is social interaction like a theater?
FM – Response

Social interactions is like a theater because it gives the portrayal of two people interacting as one. It allows the self-awareness of each and others to behave in manners that reflect consistent exchange of acts, verbal responses, physical (body language) exchanges of either positive or negative reflections of rejections or acceptance. Just like a theater it is a visual display of interaction which changes constantly as interaction of one and more with a crowd or with a few. Further as in theater the selves are measuring each and making determining judgments
against each other or for. Since they are making judgments there is a response elicited from each which is stimuli that allows the usage of mutual orientation in each exchange.

1. Discuss the process of how we make personality judgments.

FM – Response

The process of how make personality judgments is sometimes influenced by physicality, association, interaction, background, activities, relatives, environment and other factors. Because of this reflective behavior is sometimes exhibited toward certain people we feel threatening or too low a caliber to associate with. Unfortunately, summation of a person character based on little details which consists of superficial information allows for erroneous and faulty judgments of personality. Further miscalculations in personal judgment sometimes affect people when medical information is carelessly shared with non-medical people and the distortion effect comes into play and opens the door (pandora’s box) to allow numerous problems of exhaustive proportion.

Sometimes preconceived notions of whom we view as acceptable affect our treatment of others based on warped personality judgments based on looks (attractiveness), emotional basis, prejudice, race, physicality and non-verbal behavior.

2. Discuss the various factors that impact our attribution process.

The various factors that impact our attribution process are the unusual, sometimes catastrophic events in life and social interaction with people and distressing social activities that affect our secure sphere. Because of this we analyze these factors to form conclusions as to why these factors are coming into existence and the wish to understand and form a coherent view of the world and gain control of ourselves and our inner and exterior environment (inner and exterior attributions). Unfortunately, sometimes we blame ourselves for issues that are outside our control (external attributions) and with internal attributions we find issues with self and these should be addressed always.
