In London, England victimized by hacking 800 victims were reported to have been invaded by notorious con artists who worked for News of the World (now defunct – a Sunday tabloid) who invaded and stalked through phone and email hacking. This caused a great disturbance throughout England with its news of the victimized and the issue of News of the World’s blatant disregard for the right of privacy and abhorrent mannerisms of voyeurism. Further causing such an uproar it required the coverage of the British press, police and political establishment to try to right the sly and sneakiness of stealing personal data. Robert Murdoch’s British Newspaper subsidiary (News Corporation) has been processing lawsuits levied against them by their unlawful invasion of privacy that led to the compromise of their personal life and businesses.
In January of 2012 an agreement was made to pay damages of substantial amounts to several dozen high-profile victims and evidence was produced reflecting that senior managers were cognizant of the fact of the illegal access but lied, concealed and suppressed evidence to prevent the introduction of said facts in court.
Because of this lack of honesty and tampering nine out of ten cases were settled
Wednesday and six were filed and fifty more were prepared for filing suits against News Corporation. The primary victims in these attacks of hacking in the email and phone systems were the unknowing or innocent victims of this corporation whereby personal information retrieved resulted in damaging proportions to their lives and was leaked to the tabloid. This resulted in scandal and involved the News of the World (now defunct – a Sunday tabloid) whose reporters were accused of hacking into prominent people’s (business people, politicians, actors and others) voice mail messages.

The motivation behind this criminal activity of hacking was making money and causing sensational, outrageous gossip and intrigue that was published in the News of the World. During the investigations by Scotland Yard evidence of wrongdoing surfaced and allowed support for victims to file lawsuits depending on the amount of damage to reputations.
This type of hacking that was identified by Scotland Yard has no type but is purely a criminal act that should be punishable by imprisonment or fines or both. These hackers are criminals and should be treated as such and as of yet no criminal sentence has been relayed but beefing up the security could or can prevent the intrusion of hacking.
