King of the Fairies

Inspired by The Fairies written by William Allingham located in A Children’s Book of Verse, Illustrated by Eric Kincaid, Poems selected by Marjorie Rogers. (Brimax Books)

High in the hills of Ajay a old king sits on a stone filed with misery long.

Despair of deep filled a soul so he near to having wits of none.

For his daughter Brianna died of a heart broken of love unrequited and gone awonder.

Trying all within his heart he tried tried to reach her to no avail none helped the mechanoly that stole her away.

All became silent as the sadness crept crept crept little by little until all became inconsolable with the loss of him and her.

Murmuring soft as soft they said we don’t know what to do? How can we help our king with his loss?

Hugging him dear all gave his support to keep him sane and living to continue the rule.
