The Scarlet Letter (In Prose)

Chapter 1
The Prison Door

Be as it may that invariably a prison of made became a necessity evil that bespeaks the likes of none other that prevail upon nature of man and became symbolic of thought that relay itself reality of all for itself it bespoke a gloom of a death of living tomb that deter a heart of thorn to parlay not and venture not soon willing.

A sepulchers of nucleus of reminder of crime deter of not of youth but of ancient decree for it flies not but exist eternally with life of own but an edifice of congeniality rooted in souls of fanatic lunacy beguiles the all for thirst it becomes righteous place of rigid sternality for condemnation became not a token but an inauspicious portal of symbolization of finality.

Chapter 2
The Market Place

Behold the axis of rigidity of a public sentiment that reflected a snide coldness of whipping post adoration that became spectators delight regardless of solemnity interfused with religion and law but allowed the transgressor a mocking infamy.

Death defies the cultivated legality by relief of punishment with refinement of fiber of coarseness that thrilled to spectators of unsubstantial to repute indeed any good in any person of convince judgment by those of correctness.

Contrary to thought was the very perception of tone as well as despairing remarked status of judgment not handled grievously correct and the very remark of punishment that they indeed would bestow not as a gift but as not of women offended morally of sin ripe as shadow play at brazen corpus delicti begging mercy mercy for herself and child. Indeed the shame denotes us all indeed for does not the sparrow sing a song of sorrow today instead of joyous contentious as it eyes saddened the looks of us all.

Behold again Hester Prynne hails not ill-favored but with hair of whoredom written in air of temptation for any man to seize and lose his mind of all. Indeed the whispers of men mocked the air heavy as the licentious nature of them caressed the figure of fine fleshed womanhood who appeared a feast compared to the bony fare of tattered shrews of straggly meals of repulsion but necessary. Eyes adverted mirth followed conversations, actions adrift the windows of channel for today’s scandal is meals for many gentleman’s cold evening joined.

Envy was the notion for even disgraced was she the finery bestowed upon her exceeded all in presence of wish her harm for such as her deserve no measure but that which the women gave her. A state of graveness of maddening obscurity reined as if the somberness was opposite of indeed the true nature that constituted a flag of countenance if it passed a notion of blasé was the scene that curtailed the imaginative spirals of memory that were tortuous to endure and reflective of all passed fleetingly as her life played forward in orgiastic periods of sanity conclusively not insane but vivid as the shame personified reality and not indeed obscurity but factual.

Chapter 3
The Recognition

Bearing fast straight against the blasting regard of observation of scrutiny penetrating the light to behold the mark of sin Hester Prynne stood on scaffold with daughter awaiting her sentence of punitive nature.

Stares of several fluctuated like blows after blow as she stood and waited until a sight became a validation of securing her sanity for she knew this abnormality of peculiarity for he silenced her with a gesture of discreet whilst he inquired the nature of crime has she done to be placed so.

Iniquity profound indeed is the sole propitious nature that is seeded in a land of rigid that defies convention and structure provided. The nature of sin expounded in the flesh is the combined disfavor that resulted in a fruit of concealed parentage of which she refuse to speak of true and he stands in shadows of lies and conceal his feelings for jest is not a truth but a blanket of intentional conceit of hidden for never is the sin of punishment his. Far be it to say that his life to lose is in vain when discrepancy is far better than behoove us truth.

Auspicious a thought that the accessory of the crime would indeed not exist without fruit of benevolent punishment but found found he would be and punished as she.

As she stood before the grasping gaping multitude of malicious eyes that reveled in her disgrace she forebore over and over to silence silence of mute for she would not reveal the sire of her child of bastardy lineage to spare at least the one of the crippling mind numbing punishment. For surely they all clamored the bitch received her truest desserts for all knew the way of snobbish and eliteness of her to be brought down with noticeable folly.

Chapter 4
The Interview

Returning to the prison of doom Hester’s turmoil and sorrow and fear caused flows of anxiety to fill her soul and empathetic to her mother’s emotional state her daughter grieved long with piteous cries and moans of each that gave convulsions of pain and misery.

Roger Chillingworth came quiet as still to assist with medicinal care for the ailing of them both to ease until truth became portrayed as truth. Intimacy thick as the fog of truth of the parentage of infant indeed remain reluctant as her will to marry one of age and deform who elicited none of youth’s passion of fire of love but here he stood in the ignominious position of the cuckold.

Questioning her he asked of whom was the father and hearing defiance and refusal to tell brought a determined look of inner grime as to his loss, shame and mean wish to remedy the violation to his honor and wish to secret the humiliation brought forth hard and unwanted to his inner soul of his incapability of lack of fruitfulness for the world to forever mock and laugh with that note he had her swear to secret and conceal his identity and declare him her husband dead forever or suffer his wrath.

Chapter 5
Hester at Her Needle

Confined and containment of sin was Hester’s fate to be publically shamed and now released to always reflect the embody of sin’s door and a child born of the fruit of an illicit union.

Each day a torment in itself for the exquisite mental torture of her ordeal ringing through her mind and eyes as she was brought before the multitude to impress upon her the nature of her sin and the seriousness of it burdening her down and yet challenging her to face each day for her child’s sake.

Ostracized by the sheer sadness of her lot Hester was forced to live a life of pittance and servitude of a seamstress. Refined clothe of her own was naturally too good for a sinner such as her and now good enough for the most common of people who doted on her shame with ecstasy of delight.

A living death Hester endured verbal assaults from women of malicious malice over and over until it became compounded into her soul. Dreading the attack of children she continued on as she was accosted by taunts and over familiar gestures of men for indeed was she not a fallen woman and good for sport of any licentious kind.

Chapter 6
Pearl

Both scorned by the people in the town and little Pearl reacted as any child with bittersweet hatred that burned in her heart and soul. Marked by man she was considered sin incarnate with no saving grace to her name and her fear for her child permeates the air itself for her guilt was boundless as she watched her grow with apprehensive thought of the person of her own guilt would be visited upon her child.

Although young Pearl tasted the displeasurable exposure of ridicule and hate she still retained a secret pervase sense of question that befuddled her mom (Hester).

Chapter 7
The Governor’s Hall

Walking walking en route ever the torment and knowledge of a sin being evident reflected by the attack of children against Hester and child under threat always. Pearl fending off the attack rushes as someone of no good sense by screaming and hollering and pursuing them until they ran off afear. For indeed the children claimed Pearl as clone of mother and a sinful baggage as well as she. She would be as her for indeed no other option would be offered her.

Chapter 8
The Elf-Child and the Minister

On consequence, a matter of concern it became the charge of the minister to save Hester’s child Pearl before the very essence of her mother’s sin permeated and corrupted her.

A path of dissemble parried Mr. Dimmesdale that indeed the child would serve as her mother’s own whipping post as well as her constant reminder to train her a differ than herself. Providence, fate, kismet indeed brought her forth as well as the Good Lord for indeed she seemed strange and deserved no better fate than to remain as her dame and mentor.

Chapter 9
The Leech

Spectacle spectacle was she beheld before a crowd of judge her mean with sympathy of not for a fallen woman of sin surely contaminated the lot. Embodied in scandal was her infamy before the lot of people of ceaseless babble that tore through nerves of steel for what honor ever was she able to reclaim and rename a stain of such permanency. Herself shamed only for her supposed deceased husband stood awatch and swore her to disclose never his state of being alive for amock not would be him.

A name not his own he took and left his true name in obscurity and shadowed in the past did Roger Chillingworth did for his life of manhood was gone as a willow bends to hear. For what need of he of a woman who cringed from as a leper sprang free to accost her nightly and saw him as the worst of day.

Still he loved her enough to save her from death of a noose of no name and judge. But he came to place of name rumored of sin and took up his trade as a man of medicine with his extensive learning of not formal but of interest. Accepted readily for a rare of occurrence were they who came to distant provinces of sophistication not to merge and provide services of any medicinal nature of need.

Chapter 10
The Leech and His Patient

Being foretold as a healer he now had his patient for study of mysterious ailment that seized his mind with fascination that enthralled his entire being to have to own a study of unique. Exploring deeper and deeper he sought the reason why his patient was of constitution of a strong animal nature and using his intuitive and sympathetic nature he continued to explore.

His patient his visitor of many times watched intently his process of herbs to liquid mediciny of potency of levels different. Enquiring and questioning of source of retrieval he listened to fanciful notions of the growth of such different foliage that may have perchance bespoke of his possible sin and evil of life alive.

Far be it to say that the darkness of his soul was such that even the out poring of evil dispelled not but became a growth of foliage of darkness true indeed to his nature. Being a truth it stood stance that a concealed sin is still a sin buried far and deep within hidden from the eye of man’s scrutiny.

Fear until itself is indeed the color of a soul with no stance of capability. Dispelling it fierce they remove themselves and respond not the duel but encompass the love for greed, avarice and covet and destructions unbarred and spawn a breed of hellish uncouth and uncare for all.

Fortune or not they hide sin and lift hands of covered filth to conceal hypocrisy and serve self not fellowman and abase all within service of conscience that constrains and enriches the proud and elite. Pretension of pious be damned offense for levity is exalted as sword to heart of removal of virtue escaping the cruel truth of inadequacy that provides the key of state of mind. Forget not the expansive of thought proven that deceives whom self or all.

Justice, wisdom is nothing lost but found in crevices of deep hidden flawed but accomplished in levels of complexity that does not palliate or excuse the remorse of feeble search.

Chapter 11
The Interior of a Heart

Hidden deep a malice far far in latency spawned and breeded allowance for a debt a debt of vengeance to be fulfilled. A trust built upon confidence of sin confided in secrets of people of town was indeed the secrecy of vengeance to install the pitiless and of no known forgiveness was Roger Chillingworth’s call. Receiving not a specter but an actor in extreme a play that he could choose as he will that he would be the receiver of accusations at his own breast was the poor clergy’s fault of survival that compelled the coupling of a duo of comprised hate that dispelled not the secret mutual distaste but which lingered quiet in air of rapport.

Principle principle was indeed the doorway to social familiarity between Roger Chillingworth and the clergy who never the less was overshadowed by his own sorrows and the very anguish of his life that portrayed him not as eminent but a still a glimpse becoming evident.

Even though the Tongue of Flame eluded him as others still was the most humble of troubadour’s was allowed sheer relevance based on seclusion, scarcity and outright sanctity of faith prevailed persuasion and miraculous holiness of which none had known for indeed the earth sanctified itself as he trod by and wishing to stay in stead with him even unto death was his true frock.

The agony of suffering public veneration enthralled his imaginative soul to wish and fulfill his desire to speak spoke a spoken word of purpose purpose with each long tremulous breath as each expression of sin of the blackest specter that was of his soul spoke spoke anyway to his hearers that lend ears of astute to his laments of his sins of plenty.

Subtlety he was in his unremorseful portrayal of salvation for himself and his frock for indeed confession is indeed the comfort of sin and self-acknowledged shame without deceit as his nightly vigils became indeed a looking-glass of his self and tortured mind that grinned with diabolical glee at his pale reflection of sorrow-laden lack of substance.

Chapter 12
The Minister’s Vigil

A place of igneous was it indeed where Hester Prynne stood seven years past did Mr. Dimmesdale remarked in his mind that drew in deed the demons to play in his mind with reverberating summoning. Obscurity indeed ruled the night to hide his presence whereas remorse triumphed and cowardice was his champion and infirmed thought as to a nature of crime.

Being a man of sensitivity grounded his soul with intricacies of knots that seared long long on his breast and soul within to continually chastise until freed he shrieked long through the night of suppressed emotion that metamorphosed into surprisingly no response but reflection unto himself and his vivid imagination and humor.

Still in captivation of the inner horror of his imagination he did the seemingly innocuous gesture of inviting Hester Prynne and her little Pearl to her place of judgment of surety of memories of strained horror to present to once again be a specter in her own nightmarish life of recessed emotion of anguish tainted.

Once again the letter of sin glimmered bright in the sun portraying its own malevolence and threat as Mr. Dimmesdale looked in gasping horror at Mr. Chillingworth saying to Hester of his hate of him and wonder of who he is.

Hester ever prudent of her vow again walked in silence while she stood silently and listened to his tirade.

Chapter 13
Another view of Hester

Hester bewildered in her own space looked askance at the utterly unraveled condition of nervous morbidity that rendered his repose as clergy as completely criminal without obligations.

Ignominy indeed was Hester’s position for seven years of silent suffering of slights and misogamy as apt to be the case of a criminal in prominence of podium of righteous reflection of people needed public nor of individual nature but of interest and convenience. Credible indeed that human decreed themselves of nature and norm but indeed the true call is hatred quiet and still that fills any void of hostility impeded by a continual irritation of suppressed or not hatred whereas sympathetic purity existeth for infamy denies it not.

In the sight of mankind of lost favor and forgive not the humblest of privileges we faithful labor mortality risk for benefith whom does a rightful clamorous outcast brought embroidered rendering of speech and theatric glimmer twilight but its hard extremity of the letter befall a terror of anguish that still be stills whom but the sorrow’s pet of tenderness of unfailing demands was an ordained minstrel of mercy for so was her heart strong vital and loving that the scandalous letter became her instead of it her.

So much was her humility that her deportment was of a countenance itself of favor and perchance of by the rulers of wise throughout the community that reflected the token but not the embroidered badge. Suffering of long she did for she was afflicted and through her propensity was constrained by a whisper she of bygone and imparted sacredness lest peril.

Symbolic indeed was the positional reckoning of societal pivotal of peculiar and powerful was the change from attractiveness to near studied austerity of severity.

Austerity to severity reflected not the metamorphosed of change from tenderness to the truest theory of resurrection back to passion and feeling and fro thought of cold unfeeling marble. For indeed alone she stood with no thought of possible retribution for foremost was her daughter and the leaving of a fragmented broke chain.

Hester imbibed with the spirit of speculation assumed true that the crime of punishment that she received would have indeed have merited a harsher sentence across shores in true England for such an act of accusatory and factual non-denial was considered truth and judgment rendered and at which Hester conformed with perfect sense to external regulations of communal society.

For indeed it is based on the nature of change for even in the darkest of labyrinth is a precipice of difficulty unraveled by the truest of light to counter a chasm of deep by truest vigil and remorseful reflection for herself and others for true the light of enemies became clear as the level of ignominy that they delved black indeed mocked all.

Chapter 14
Hester and the Physician

Come come Hester without margin requested words with the physician Roger Chillingworth for indeed the request of Mr. Dimmesdale whose act of desperate plight of agitated thought and near lunacy reflected his terror of this dragon of quiet wait.

Roger Chillingworth portrayed not the falseness but indeed reflected the cold wait of retribution of enigmatic maneuvers for indeed the casting of invasion in another soul was his way of propinquity for a vileness was of perpetual poison was the revenge of torment.

Looking at Hester with eyes of fire which propelled the blaze of lurid to dance between them and her eyes to flinch for indeed his wrath and retribution suffered her the Scarlet Letter as payment payment for her rejection of him revealed evil evil of a fiend blended into the night and day to overthrow his enemies to purport his will and weave the maze more to perpetuate his fiendish hate.

Chapter 15
Hester and Pearl

Hester eyes of fanciful watched Roger Chillingworth in wrathful foreboding as his movements of continually gathering subjects of this that made her imagination rise with every fanciful notion that truly evil should show from his very touch and hidden from all the hate she felt for betraying her as he did.

Pearl’s fascination of the strange letter of “A” on her mother’s bosom was of great bordering on morbid as it relates to her imitation of a letter she placed on her own chest in the color of green a she queried its purpose. Hester seeing clarity and curiousness answered with query and question if she knew the significance of the red letter “A” on her chest and what it entailed.

Singular was little Pearl in her interest in the letter that supposedly had little purport but rose and lit like a specter of curiosity for her visually illuminated.

The enigma the Scarlet Letter represented appealed to her with insatiable tenacity that providence carried forth which reflected justice and retribution with marked propensity.

Symbolic and true the Scarlet Letter served as a regulator for curtailed emotions, acts, sins and forbidden physical acts which sometimes cannot be discussed by children or by little Pearl with her morbid curiosity.

Chapter 16
A Forest Walk

Hester resolved focus constant to reveal the purpose and character of Mr. Chillingworth without undue waste of time and sought opportunity after opportunity to speech with him.

Pearl again expressed curiosity for she stated the sunshine ran from the letter of red on her bosom and forthrightly asked why why will she get one when a woman grown?

Replying steady Hester said she hope not for perception reality at its best is extreme and scintillates not as acceptable or wantable. Even as the letter itself was the mark of the Black Man who sets a mark on thee to reflect the red letter as notice.

Throughout the forest was a cool kind quiet underlined with spirits of melancholy telling tales of welcome, peace and sorrow by reawakening reminiscences.

Chapter 17
The Pastor and His Parishioner

A meeting of chance revealed a state of mental of anxious for Mr. Dimmesdale was indeed tortured by his own inadequacies. For his life was haunted by a specter in his thoughts who gave him no quarter for his fear stole its way through his soul and made him and her question.

He and She questioned the fairness of the actual torment that actually existed if not physically then psychologically. Once separate in spheres of different now became one as a rapport of consent of spoken intercourse and sharing of real thoughts.

Despair a soul mate reflected all for no delusion was Mr. Dimmesdale of his own failing despite his faith to guide and redeem when penitence mocked him and nudged him righteously.

Contiguous is the thought that of all this time Mr. Dimmesdale would urge confidence when the day of her evaluation was the next day to speak his heart spoke of sin carried heavy.

In responsive to the confession Hester in turn told told the secret of who Mr. Chillingworth was that once he was her husband years ago and as a man scorned he hated with a cold passion and thirst for revenge each time he cast his eye upon himself and despised his self over and over to instill in form that she reviled. Hester quiet all this time finally could not hold the secret any longer for she loved Mr. Dimmesdale and asked forgiveness forgiveness over over for their love was consecrated and true as he forgave her.

Hester loving fervently encouraged him to leave this place of lie and live live with more happiness for nothing but sadness and rejection remains here and stated he did not have to leave alone.

Chapter 18
A Flood of Sunshine

Hester without remorse watched Mr. Dimmesdale face change reflecting hope and joy for her wish was to be with him for shame had taught her, despair had consoled her and solitude had provided strength, peace and resolve.

The Scarlet Letter had become a passport to other levels usually denied women and had made her strong. A stigma signifying shame, anguish and undue heaviness to be afflicted with mistreatment and condemnation was her punishment. For now the relief of being free of the burden enlivened the spirit of joy and happiness not felt for years years that radiated from her and him. For Pearl was Mr. Dimmesdale’s daughter with her fey ways and light loving nature and all the animals in the forest smiled as they said hello.

Chapter 19
The Child at the Brook-side

Hester filled with love for Mr. Dimmesdale as they watched Pearl who united them both and was the combination of them both.

Pearl with seeming care watched both carefully and noted that the Scarlet Letter was missing from her mother’s breast and with forefinger outstretched she pointed and frowned for the customary letter was gone and so was her mother. Reestablishing the scarlet letter in place brought her back and with it safety, structure and love.

Chapter 20
The Minister in a Maze

Strange strange was the disquiet he felt as if vexed by the unsettling complications in his life and Hester Prynne’s life. Never seeing a change to effect difference necessitates a relocation to the old world for health reasons and equitable station.

A man who accustomed to wearing one face to self of self delusion will also wear one to a multitude for he is indeed true deception for his perception is untrue with destruction properties of himself and others.

Far into thought Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale compelled he it to acknowledge that by his temptation he opened up the door to scorn, bitterness, ridicule of good, holy, malignant feeling at odds with desire of ill and sympathy of the wicked and perverted spirits cast down from morality and decency.

For indeed he was in a maze that hid his eccentricities that impelled the feeling of strangeness that hovered with haunting familiarity and yet wisdom settled in its place instead of placated simplicity and acceptance of Roger Chillingworth at face value for he knew he knew who he is and how he felt about him now.

Chapter 21
The New England Holiday

Hester indiscriminately dressed in gray faded into the background with the Scarlet Letter beaming bright as the town hustled and bustled and ignored her as non-existent with no sympathy as the walking dead. Face closed with the appearance of mask withholding and shielding the hurt, pain and anguish of ostracism and the people’s victim and bond-slave.

A day of celebration each year it was in appreciation of the settlement of the colony. Jocular events of entertainment went on and traveled from one corner to another.

But through it all the menace sprang from Roger Chillingworth in waves of secrecy and caused fear in Hester Prynne’s heart.

Chapter 22
The Procession

The beginning prevailed the advance of magistrates and citizens to hear and receive the election sermon. In the procession were thoughts of lofty and stately to hold tradition true and natural for Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale’s sermon called forth pain and anguish buried deep within words of praise and suffering humanity of mankind. Each procession he spoke word of encouragement and faith for all to persevere and suffer
humility.

Chapter 23
The Revelation of the Scarlet Letter

Spoken words of Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale brought forth high spirit inspired the all for through mortal lips came the prophetic word that belied the written and wavered high and foresworn the relation between the deity and communities of mankind.

Pathos sunken deep it passeth swift as the words were propelled forcefully forth with love as his discourse rained forth over his audience. Such golden truths carried not only a shadow but a splendorous elation that flowered and bloomed.

Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale with the words of undying love for Hester Prynne relayed to the world that he was the man who should have stood beside her seven years ago and confessed his sin and passed away after one last moving sermon.

Chapter 23
Conclusion

In due of his conscience, his feeling of guilt and willingness to atone for his sin Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale showed the world his own Scarlet Letter embedded in his flesh for his human communion with Hester Prynne.

For his confession revealed to all even those viewed as saints of saints have sins hidden deep but by sheer mercy and love only the purest of love would sacrifice the high regard held by the multitude and right the wrong of old and remove the Scarlet Letter for she would not speak the name of lover and dishonor

Poor Roger Chillingworth wish to be revenged for being made a cuckold was fallen and destroyed as his responsible charge passed and deviated him from his revenge and purpose as his strength and energy waned and withered and died.

All three perceived are victims of society by excess for who is without sin. (Hester for she became pregnant outside the marriage boundaries and none would she let claim, Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale for he is the sire of Pearl and could not come forth and was denied the right and privilege to be husband and father and poor misshapen Roger Chillingworth husband of Hester whom she felt revulsion for and hate.)

I am sure there were more cuckolds and bastard children with the knowledge hid.
