Maushop the Giant

Inspired by Maushop, The Good Giant (Wampanoag), located in The Girl Who Helped Thunder and other native American Folktales, By James Bruchac and Joseph Bruchac, Ph.D.

A time when the Earth was new and the Wampanoag lived good and was loved by Maushop the Giant dear as his children

Teacher and helper he nurtured them long for many moons and days until they relied on him for the most mundane tasks

Becoming servant, slave one day he became tired for they became too lazy to walk for they requested his help in all tasks and did none

Realization struck him hard heavy that he had indulged them all long for over he knew he had to leave so that they could learn to live and be self-reliant to survive future and never rely heavy on anybody
