"Robbery, Burglary, and Theft"
Compare and contrast the fundamental similarities and differences among robbery, burglary, and larceny. Provide one (1) example of each crime to support your response.
The similarities between robbery, burglary and larceny are first of all are thefts in all states of conclusiveness. Burglary and larceny is relatively close in comparison and that they are both felonious acts with the intent to deprive the owner of their property or goods. Burglary is the intrusion of a structure to steal whereas larceny can be done anywhere along with robbery.
In relation the three robbery, burglary and larceny all can be viewed as possibly a correlating pattern signifying that all are acts of intent, unlawful removal of goods that may be referred to as willful deceit to move and transfer property either at market value or below to sell on the street market.
The act of robbery involves the direct contact of taking from an individual(s) either by force with physical intimidation, with weapon or mere verbal threat. Unlike robbery, burglary does not need an individual presence to enact but the act of larceny/theft may be facilitated by either with or without an individual presence and can be facilitated at a premises and is the removal of property that belongs to another.
For Example – Robbery
Robert dressed in blue jeans, detailed expensive Spanish boots, Hidalgo jacket trimmed in lambskin fur is approached by a slim, light complexioned male of mixed descent, carrying a 9 mm with threat of harm to him physically orders him to surrender his wallet, coat and boots.
For Example – Burglary
House 1212 Express, neighborhood of above average income, owner has called 911 and has observed disturbance and missing personal property throughout house.
For Example – Larceny/Theft
Warehouse, Dock Pier 2, contents of Storage Unit 5, missing and emptied.
Select one (1) crime that you discussed in Part 1 of this discussion. Next, identify at least two (2) challenges with investigating the crime you selected and recommend at least one (1) step that law enforcement departments can take in order to improve investigation of the crime. Provide a rationale to support your response.
Larceny/Theft
Warehouse, Dock Pier 2, Storage Unit 5
Challenges with investigating this crime are the lack of or reduced amount of possible evidential findings, lack of witnesses, time of seizure or removal.
One avenue that precludes to the start of the investigation begins with the security camera and 360° scope of discovery. The next step would be close examination for possible fingerprints and gate close and up beyond hours and during hours correlated to 360° scope. K-9 track and facilitate discovery of possible trail in relation to contents and possible remnants to aid in the investigation and find perpetrator and associates.
By trying to cover all bases and leads this will help to get a summation and active account of the who, when and where.
Thank you.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
WEEK 7 - DISCUSSION 7
RESPONSE TO INSTRUCTOR
No, it depends on the magnitude, monetary value, amount of damage, level of force that was used in each act and whether anyone was hurt. Each has differing levels and criteria to allocate appropriate sentence.
Thank you.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
WEEK 7 - DISCUSSION 7
RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT
I agree that all involve some type of property and the taking of something that is not theirs.
True, the inability to recall can be a monumental problem and cameras might help if the victim is in a vicinity that has a camera and it is easily located. Another point is they are seen as easy prey.
Thank you.
