CRJ320 - WEEK 5 - DISCUSSION 5

"Suicide and Elder Abuse"

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) identified suicide as a common death investigation within the United States. In some instances, family members attempt to hide the fact that the person took their own life. Analyze the main reasons why persons would attempt to conceal such an event which could possibly lead them into receiving criminal charges themselves. Recommend at least one (1) action that the law enforcement could take in order to investigate such a suicide crime.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) suicide is commonly a suspicious death that has to be first primarily viewed as quoted from the book “Criminal Justice” as a possible homicide. You have to be a skeptic when looking at a case that appears to be a suicide. Due to the nature of the act being in its own case an unusual peculiarity it is prudent to secure the scene and then approach with all investigative methodology as if a homicide has occurred.

Since the act of suicide is a crime in itself in all states it is noted that all or therein involved in the hiding of the auspices of the crime would be viewed as accomplices in the concealment due to the likelihood of committance of fraud against insurance companies etcetera for retirement benefits and any goody attachment or entailment that surfaces as entitlement to be brought forth to the surviving family.

As such the nature of circumstance require the ability to understand the desperate acts of people who find themselves involved in events or acts beyond their control. Even though the horrifying murky future hovers frontally still the need to not act a criminal should be prevalent in upper thought that to act as a conspirator spirals oneself to grounds that are malevolent and threatening to freedom and security.

Therefore, the societal view on suicide is considered a stigma and suspicious note of possible mental instability, emotional trauma, familial abuse, financial devastation, health issues, destruction of standing in community and either a sufferer of depression or post-traumatic stress disorders and despotic state of senility and its reign on the elderly.

Even though the act in itself is a supposed exit and freedom from trouble it still portrays itself as an act of a coward. These steps to say “end it all” becomes for those who love you a heartrending, sorrowful and forever a goodbye.

In acknowledgment that the act has succeeded in achieving nothing it bares to mind that assisting and preventing is the need to provide self-help and acquiring mental strength to withstand the rigors and aggressive acts of domination and conquer.

Once again, any act of suicide should be looked as an act of homicide and true facilitator to acquiring the reasons of death as well as the cognitive acknowledgement and reasons why some people may disguise a suicide and claim murder or homicide and jeopardize themselves by lying to the police for concealment, self-gain and retainership of status in community, social level and abiding of social norms. Therefore, the negative acts or repercussions are discarded but still the knowledge is there that some people will take a risk to continue a life of ambiguity, anonymity and normalcy.

The National Center on Elder Abuse indicates that seniors are the fastest-growing population in the United States. It is apparent that as this populace becomes more physically frail, they are seemingly a greater target for the unscrupulous to take advantage. Discuss the main reasons why abuse of seniors is recognized yet usually goes unreported. Next, suggest one (1) action that citizens or family members could take to reduce elder abuse. Provide a rationale to support your response.

The National Center on Elder Abuse gives indication that seniors are the fastest growing population in this country and as such they are the segment that need protection from predatorial adversaries. The sheer lack of care, respect and kindness attributed to these elders of our populace is deplorable and despicable. Further these acts of “evil” toward the elderly is reflective of a society going bad.

In consequence, it reflects the youth being taught to disrespect all and are featured acts of non-christian people who find the word of God as being fruit of old, relic and something to not be heeded, acknowledged or followed. “Doing good to all young and old is the way to God’s favor for he says I am theirs first and then yours.” because of this the treating of all the elderly should be reverence because they hold the knowledge and way not those who are young and who don’t know their way at all.

Some of the main reasons why abuse of seniors or elders is not recognized and usually goes unreported are because they have been intimidated, mistreated and physically harmed, sheer fear and terror for their safety and all they hold dear and love. These seniors lives are ours to protect from those who go “boo” in the night and all steps and measures should be taken to ensure their safety, longevity and life until God determines to call them home.

Another reason why the abuse of seniors goes on is the mindset of people toward the elderly that they are nothing, don’t need nothing and subsequently leave them to be treated “bad as hell” by predators. Further who you are in the community is a factor that causes fear and terror in the elderly because the authorities won’t act to protect them because they are intimidated as well.

If you see it! Address the situation immediately and protect them at all costs. Turn them in and press charges. Network for them and keep them safe.

Thank you.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
WEEK 5 - DISCUSSION 5
RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT

Response One

I agree with your post that the nature of crime and that the active concealment of a suicide is a crime rather rocks the brain to participate. Who knowingly gets into a criminal act with the knowledge that they can go to jail just about forever for helping.

Scientific theory is hard to fool and crossing the finger is just not going to make it or trust me.

As a realist and a skeptic, human behavior and mannerisms act as a dead giveaway. Lies do as they do they become unraveled.

Caring is the answer not shame ... just love and care. Greed and unscrupulous acts will always reflect badly on those involved. They probably say "c'est la vie" and move on.

Response Two

Getting angry is the first step in protecting the older segment. They deserve someone who cares enough to fight for them and not see them as a dried up husk that has no value when they can't do for themselves.

Love them as self and all will leave these older people young alone.

Thank you.

Felicia
