1. Populations – American Indians, Black Americans, Hispanics, Asians – India, Chinese, Japanese
No. These groups are oppressed because there are not educational facilities, job
opportunities, lack of equal rights amenities and poorly educated. No one is really making an effort to help or even cares about these people by affording them their inalienable rights of being an American.
2. Black Americans, there is widespread portrayal of oppression, prejudice, lack of educational opportunities in this community. There is also inner oppression within this group reflecting that these members of this group is hard on each other and do not support each other in their quest to better themselves or community. Relationships are strained and unnatural and subject to hostility and mistrust.
3. As far as myself being disabled – I feel vulnerable as well as anyone with a disability and that is we have no support, we are treated as if we do not count, we are treated as if we do not understand anything and we feel uncared for.
4. This list of oppressions causes me to be on guard more and know that people are out there to take advantage if they see a vulnerability and that people are predators that need to be watched and observed to try to protect other disabled people who cannot help or fend for themselves. I try to be aware of this behavior – I have not always been disabled but my brothers have and I have seen deplorable behavior aimed at them as well as other disabled people and it sickens me to know that able bodied people that can work behave in type of fashion. As far as my relationship with others in this group, I feel a lot of empathy for those who cannot help themselves and it puts me more on the defensive and makes me very watchful and aware of ulterior motives of the so-called “able-bodied and normal person”. As far as others in other groups of minorities, the same type of despicable behavior is exhibited and relayed to others and the same issues and troubles affect these groups also and it just makes a person tired of looking at these injustices constantly.
