PHIL210 CRITICAL THINKING DISCUSSION 7

"Problem Solving Interview Question":

CURRENT DQ:

"Problem Solving Interview Question"

Respond to this typical interview question: Explain a specific example in which you utilized problem solving strategies to resolve a problem in the real world.

Example:

A way in which I used a problem solving strategy was when I worked in the Assessor’s Office in the City of Saginaw. My proposal and draft of a form was submitted to my boss to make processing incoming requests for services to be provided to help efficiency, accuracy and assist the other appraisers in the office to gather details to make address changes, name changes, mortgage changes and any other changes needed that would make my processing of incoming information more expedient and keep accuracy and records correct.

By using critical thinking, I used analysis and gathering of details that pertained to the form and what is asked regularly and this helped compile my proposal and request and relay it to my supervisor.

Provide your feedback from the perspective of an interview coach to at least three (3) of your classmates.

RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT

The process sounds great and knowing the If Then and Buts is what makes it easier for your client to interface with you and doing your job. As a job coach, I would suggest always having a visual display to ensure all are on the same page with suggestions that might streamline and save money as well. This is always a good seller.

Thank you.

Felicia

RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT

As a job coach, I commend you on your fast thinking, empathy and maturity in reconciling a no-win situation. Not only did you retain the customer as a client … you helped retain that the business respects all customers. Further, I feel that training to sensitize employees with various scenarios will teach courtesy, self-respect and caution because lawsuits do happen.

Thank you.

Felicia

RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT

If I was your job coach, I would stress that retracking mentally and visualizing what could be wrong then as you did wait a period, scale the scene and find the flaw and keep the work load going smooth. Patience and coolness with precision gets it done always.

Thank you.

UPDATED DQ:

"Problem Solving Interview Question"

Imagine you are interviewing for a job you really want.

The interviewer asks you the following question: “Explain a specific example in which you used critical thinking/problem solving strategies to solve a problem in the real world.”

What is your answer to the question?

An example that I used critical thinking would be the merging of time with classes to help facilitate a broader outlook for my future job as a teacher, counselor, writer to allow a more fluent pattern of growth and exploratory ability to become more analytical and faster compiling theories and questions to a problem to help others.

Choose one classmate’s own response to the interviewer’s question. If you are a job coach, what suggestions would you make to maximize his or her answer to the interview question?

If I was an interview coach my goal would be to stress first interpersonal skill, cooperative ability and the ability to evolve the position and be able to treat all with courtesy and accept criticism to correct and reroute.

RESPONSE TO CO-STUDENT

If I was your job coach, I would say yes to a promotion and keep thinking of great ideas. This is an excellent strategy when a short staff is all you have and knowing how to keep the public happy and keep the quality great is what makes the game continue.

Thank you.
