Inspired by Hera, D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths, written by Ingri and Edgar Parin D'Aulaires.

Arth beautiful was the call of a trio of men who looked looked fainted for sheer ecstasy at Hera long

A jealous of her husband was Hera that brought forth fits of temper of rival a tempest in storm

Hatred bloomed fierce between Zeus other wives and herself and when Zeus asked her for her hand in marriage she refused

Enamored entranced by her beauty Zeus turned himself into a bird of distress needing shelter from a storm and consoling him Hera cuddled it close until alas

Zeus restored himself to form and kissed her until her heart fainted and became his

All nature became ahappy and bloomed bloomed as none before and happily Gaea, Mother Earth gave Hera a little tree of apples gold that granted immortality

Eyes a sparkle with happiness Hera placed it in the Garden of Hesperides to be guarded by a hundred head dragon and cared for by the three nymphs

Although Zeus loved Hera he was fond of the women in Greece and became enthralled with the thought of children and more children to pass on his greatness and be great heroes and rulers

Jealousy ruled Hera as she tormented his other wives and children and followed Zeus quiet close

Knowing his way of trickery with women and to not be deceived she devised methods to circumvent his play by pretending to not know the pretty cow was a woman in disguise and requested it for herself gift please may

Summoning Argus of the Hundred Eyes, her servant to watch Io, the cow time escape time Hera smiled smug to know her plot to thwart his amorous adventure and set it amiss succeeded

Argus watched Io, the cow as she ate grass abet reluctantly praying for help help to free her mortal self from Zeus’s spell

Zeus compassion ruled him well as he saw Io’s distress and requested his son Hermes to set a ruse of secret to free her quick

Hermes stories of stories told to Argus became his downfall for he fell to sleep sleep of boredom long as each eye closed closed sleeping sleeping until all became still and he passed fully until death song its sweet miserable song

Clever deed done Io ran home to Inachos, her father the
River God and tale told he attacked Zeus fierce and as the battle commenced Zeus reined supreme and all ceased

Hera outraged at Argus death and the cow freed she sent a gadfly to sting her continuously and the eyes of Argus were given to her favorite bird the peacock as his most ostentatious adornment

Io ran ran until she came to Egypt and they fell to their knees and worshiped her and she became an Egyptian goddess after Zeus promised Hera he would never see her again
Io lived long under the benevolent Gods’ eye and her descendants ruled long in Egypt and Greece

Remembering always Hera knew the value of her worth to Zeus and look aside from his way
