2 1/2 notes on poems

Notes on poems

ROOFERS

This poem relays a clear reflection and not of what it takes to a do a roofing job. It gives great detail in visualization skills and reflect the duty of each roof. It gives a comparison of "shingles slapping the ground like a clown's feet" which is a clearly a clever analogy and gives it very credence and influence to the great William Shakespeare himself. "Great rolls of thunder, the roof of heaven cluttered with gods" are clear reflections of usage of a mix of hyperbole and a paradox. This poem reflects the author's love of poetry and his reference of W. Shakespeare as his mentor. It also reflects the workers know their job and take pleasure in doing a good job and know how to work in harmony toward completing the job accurately and quick. Author also uses a simile that states "the eye is like the Important God" which I believe means that god is omniscient and he further states that his imaginary world that he views is not real and I believe he has fear for the future doe his living in another world.

THE BOOK OF STEVE

This poem starts off with a misrepresentation that is known as a paradox. The author discuss the very possibility of the creation of Adam and Eve and further states what if this was possible, proven but not recorded and in the lost books of the bible He goes on to imply that maybe this is possible...no real evidence points otherwise. Concrete & Abstract images are reflected in this poem as well as the duties that had to been done. In the form is an illusion that their may have been some form of sexual contact between the ants or someone else hidden in the text and that Adam and Steve was in charge of the animals. Usage of similes are intermingled in the poem and reflects that with all situations their will be shifting of responsibility and complaints and destruction of books by others. It reflects that Steve was moved from the Book of Steve (given a helpmate that was not fruitful) and allowed to go to another quadrant due to a brief inference in poem and reflects the usage of similes.

FROM THE BOY’S OWN BOOK

This poem starts with an idea that a boy could defy actual time itself and that time is relattively of no significance to him. A student of nature is the child who plays games to test the force of gravity itself. Similes is used to reflect the nature of child who possibly has a very scientific nature enjoys doing his own tests on gravity while doing chores or in his free time. Hidden messages and obvious listed in this poem which uses concrete and abstract images and analogy to bring about a point that young do as young do although now that he is older restrictions needed. Further relayed that a person must walk the straight and narrow to receive and enjoy life's rewards of prosperity. Furthermore, although the young man daredevil games -- he stopped while his brother continued to his death.

A pack of cards is like a garden because they both serve a purpose - one to use in play and entertainment and a garden provides enjoyment, entertainment and substance to live.

Sealing wax is like a soldier because a soldier is trained to stand firm like a melted wax that evolves to sealing wax.

Man is like a burning candle because a candle burns and dwindles and so does a man who dies slowly each day and dwindles as times goes on.

THE GREAT AMERICAN POEM

This poem starts out with abstracts that brought no images to mind and allegories are being used to reflect the author proceeding in a narrative fashion. The author states that as in a novel a character and framework to portray a scene that would enthrall the reader to continue to turn pages would be needed. The poem is relaying in a definite tone what this artwork is about and that it is a poem that has a hidden agenda and challenges the reader to find out what is being written or being said. It reflects the author's wish to ensue a battle of wits ..of his thoughts vs yours with yourself and him in an imaginary room which will disappear after a few more lines. This poem and author is challenging the reader to confirm his thought on the scenario do you agree or not that through it all no one really cares. That the expectation of better things of life are needed immediately and the need for peace is a tangible as eating an orange.

THE SONG OF AMERICA

This poem reflects the issue of discerning right and wrongs done between siblings and the need of a child to not follow in their footsteps, accept the norms of society, to listen objectively, to view and analyze the need for war and understand that conflict between people will eventually resolve itself, become an educator and help those with special issues. Further, this poem also states that this child is being raised to help peasants overcome the stigma and affliction of a lack of a proper education. It also reflects that the child is being raised to keep chin up even though the hurt is deep inside and retain good morals. This poem also reflects how dangerous it is to see, hear and be in the wrong place at the right time and how important it is for that child to get away from people (bad factor) as quick as possible and to be truthful as possible.

This poem is a narrative format that reveals and hides but reflects the need for all parents to train and raise a child properly.
