Inspired by The Lobster Quadrille written by Lewis Carroll located in A Children’s Book of Verse, Illustrated by Eric Kincaid, Poems selected by Marjorie Rogers. (Brimax Books)
Suave he was when he asked for a dance or two to begin the night a tangle or flew
Wearing an eyeglass over eye of jolly fun he watched the proceedings over and over
Superciliousness he portrayed for none was better than he of dancing the quadrille
Directing the proceedings with baton he gave orders to the turtles to advance step by step
Hollering at the snail he said keep abreast of the comings and goings my good lad
Crunching munching a tidbit or two he agreed merging with grace on a porpoise’s head in the middle of the fray
Singing alah alah he proceeded to end the dance cha cha cha cha coco nut it’s done
