A Nigger’s Pain

Sorrow deep far until the soul cries why

Each day it flogs the whip and say we mean

Currying favor it whisper the pain the pain caries me soft

Harsh thoughts whisper whisper I hate I hate

Marshalling courage it marches one by one deeper deeper it recedes it recedes

Each day it kills the soul piece by piece as the thoughts of escape flees flees

Chances Chances what are they when the skin flays wide as a river’s thoughts

Deep within if you look it mirrors myself you are you are me for you see self below

Circling deep in heart is pain pain hollowing deep why why I tried I tried I tried

Nothing Nothing I am for I am dear to none for my soul is empty of sweet but nothing pain screams let me let me free

Slash Slash is the whip that cries I will I will for I am the nightmare that wakes wakes each moment

Wake Me Wake Me for I burn deep inside and rest not for the hurt that stifles the night day

Surges of pain pressure fills me deep for none love me but a one two three four five for each thought of mercy I clamor forgive

Despair Despair stalks my steps daily for my mind dwells on hurt to try to repay but I cry who can help a Nigger’s Pain
