Booker T. Washington - A School of Thought and Dreams

Inspired by With Books and Bricks, How Booker T. Washington Built a School, Written by Suzanne Slade.

Once a day Booker T. Washington toiled long hard in the sun of hot fierce working working for free he was not

Heart athrist for something for something he knew not but it cried it cried for learning learning it echoed through chambers wide far wide far as it passed through homeless channels of athrist

A bundle of light he delivered for a book it was called with lives of symphony of thoughts that signified its pleasure pleasure for it carried its own song for sparrow

Eyes agleamed Booker looked at the words transferred magic magic to his mind for thought swirled swirled before him and they spoke spoke to him of all

Forbidden forbidden was its answer and he cried cried why why why they learn they learn I have something to know to know and give and give and give as his face glowed light of inner

Civil War of States ended the hierarchy of dominance and cascaded lights of freedom freedom chime chime and for Booker at the age of nine begin to read read for his Father God taught him and he thirsted thirsted for more more more

Booker working deep in coal mines of pitch black heard it clear clear a school for black students in Virginia and his mind and heart collided rejoice rejoice for here was deliverance deliverance

Working steadily his pick slashed repeatedly at black gold with thoughts of money gold with thoughts of money for books, train ticket and school humming as it carved its way home home with dreams of school

A man of young Booker walked and begged transportation until he reached Virginia to be schooled to be schooled to teach black students his dream of learning learning

Alabama called its own sweet siren song to Booker to teach and he came he came as sweet as hummingbird with his books and smiles and dreams of enlightenment and learning

Arriving Booker searched looking for a school finding naught but a shed with no windows but holes in roof and it became the school of start

First day of school showed it all the desire to learn spanned far and wide as they squeezed in and held umbrella of share to keep dry as the lessons poured forth one by one as if in a measured beat

Brick by brick it rose trailing fingers of joy and laughter the school grew with thoughts of deeds, principles, points, nuances, play and at the cost a watch of precious

A door of welcome glimmered far and wide to allow and encourage all to enter and learn as they came the more brick bricks giggled with joy and stood united in walls of unique to teach teach for an effort was made for all to evolve and spiral to stars

As stars twinkled down and blessed each for a process began with an unequivocal thought aspires to sublime surreal pleasure of truth and the educated sect
