Cinderella Black

Small round of stature she be

Small nose tilted up she scrubbed and rubbed

Day and Night she toiled endlessly long

Hands work worn and small square
Work work work busy bee she sing a lark

Music free dance her heart

Clean clean scrub scrub she wasp by

Eyes wide brown distance she look

Dreams dreams cascading down her hair

Soul aquiver harps sing when she walk by

Dancing dancing her eye see her mind of visions aplenty

Spirit soaring high as eagles dare she go fleet

Romantic sweet of roses given her hand

A feast of sweet revivals of music love refine

Handsome as the sky is grand wide

He come far wide different strange

Attired spun of spider’s heart of web refined silk of rainbow caught

Curls of black cascade down smooth brown shoulders taught

Feet encased in Italian leather of joy

Dancers dancers spin whirl twirl of circles within

Noises cease here she comes small round sugar spice

Walking swift as if on air of puff she moves the shadow past

Elegant handsome he prowled wide smile small secret he captured her hand

Holding her gently he caressed her soul with sweet allure

Feet of match miss no note of life mystery song

Tick tock the clock struck note that alarmed her so

Leaping from arms hard with love she dashed on feet of wings

Laughing softly she gasped my shoe is gone

Hands large hard caress a small slipper of delight

Searching far wide country in out he charged looking for sweet one of his

heart delight

House of hell they called blue revere encased in shadow dark last to check

Housing women of mean and one worked til dawn til dusk

Feet aplenty tried hardest fit slipper of delight toes cramped pinched reject them all

One last little lady they beat from sight wait called he with slipper in hand

Screeches loud with rage spite hissed they all

Come he say gentle fine try this slipper of delight

Trembling and crying she perched gingerly on wooden bench pine feet held delicately still

Smoothing her fine little feet he placed it sweet and woe the sky changed lights blue green yellow cascaded around

Birds of all sing sweetly near transformed before eyes of wonder shock she evolved revolved until she appeared

Grasping her near tender embrace of security strength he say never let you go.

LILY AND THE BUTTERFLY

Butterfly sweet and delicate beauty
Fly and swirl catch the eye
Lily sweet delicate cry
Ma I see a butterfly cry
Watch me soar leap chase it fly
Precious Beauty delicate of eye
Look I chase it bye
Catch me if you can sing it fly
Leaps bounds Lily say hi
Love me say kaleidoscope butterfly
Ok say Lily come near stare
Hurt you no cry Lily why
Nose pressed to butterfly kiss
Precious Beauty I love cry Lily
Leaping gracefully landing softly
Press Precious Beauty to Lily's eye
I love you too as much as Lord God grace
Happy content Lily come home Ma sweet embrace

Flo Jo

Florence Griffith Joyner

Moving fast as flowing gazelle's leap

She gave the game a race of renown fame

Looking neither right or left her name should have been flash

Beautiful flashy jeweled anight of life’s delight

She glowed with beauty poise energy given full

Best of all she brought the gold home

Records set she broke then exceedly flashly

Intelligent beautiful African queen she gazed awed for herself

Mane of lioness her hair flowed rippling freely

Catch her no knees up she said pumping faster than a river sail

Track, spokeperson, actress, writer, sport caster, wife, mother she beamed sun

Strong of mind wit she razed them all

Feet flashing and churning the dirt below she ran faster faster she became the run

Humble graced she stayed the same

Independent wave a flag like the grace she became as the American Dream

Never forgotten will she be a nation saddened at her lost

Felicia’s Fate

Born of trouble she walked free and proud

She seemed to be walking steadily forward

She crashed the wall

Educated talented humble yet stern

Looking with somewhat disdain she see stars far

Watching with eyes wide she watch each new moon come to life

Simplicity look learn lazily grasp all

Learning seems to stall and lean but she progress forward anyway

Who is she they cry aloud?

Eyebrow crooked upward she pondered thought

Care who is the question that marvels the few proud elite

Seeming dull she portrays the image clear as mud

Questions Questions answers she have not

Business business life fulfill she craves the life

Moving quietly she look within without further nearer no one will

ever know

Life is a thrill if you betray the seer

Ironic isn’t that a simple plain woman stagger world

Enraging jealousy envy hate malice she became target of all true

Guess what fate is fickle and so is a trickster’s heart

Beaming with amusement exasperation she shake her head right left

Guess who is worried all her soul’s delight

Basking in her own glow she speaks truth to all

Fate hers is unknown to all but God’s state it plain above

Madlock she aspire, Sherlock and Watson she awe and love,

Lieutenant Spock logic is her and she will became

Felicia’s fate is God’s rudder on her ship of quest
